planning key performance indicators (kpis) marketing promotional materials mentorship researchWe are a new business (a café and event venue in a rural community 22k people) and we need to increase general awareness of our existence both within the community and broader - as we are a tourist destination and on weekends and during the summer our population doubles - so we also need to reach those coming from the neighbouring cities.
Our business is located in an alleyway, and was a take-over from an existing club. The prior owners had a bad reputation in town and the club itself had negative connotations. We need to bring awareness we are half a year into new ownership, we are no longer a club, but a community hub for a variety of different events.
This project will involve several different steps for the students, including:
- Familiarizing themselves with our mission and goals.
- Identifying groups that the campaign will target.
- Market research, identification of key target markets
- Identifying ideal outcomes and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Identifying potential sponsors and partners who can support our campaign.
- Creating a promotion and marketing plan.
- Assisting in the development of leaflets, posters, videos, and / or brochures or planning of digital content.
By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:
- Understanding of our mission and goals
- Identification of target groups
- Identification of ideal outcomes and KPIs
- Identification of sponsors and partners
- Creation of a marketing plan
- Designing promotional materials for our campaign
Final deliverables should include
- A final report.
- A 10-minute presentation.
How will you support students in completing the project?
Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:
- Our organization’s mission and goals
- Our current identified markets
- Established sponsors and partners that could help
- Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.
What skills or technologies will help students to complete the project?
In order to complete this project, students can self-teach, but it is beneficial to be familiar with:
- Awareness campaigns
- Graphic design
- Marketing Strategies
- Market Research and analysis
Again, students can complete this project without any of the prior knowledge listed here. Students will be expected to research and learn more about the above as the project goes along.
We will provide ongoing support, with our data analysis, market research, financials, access to canva for graphic elements. We can provide staff time and company biometrics as well as opportunities for website development.
