Details

Interactive Adventures aims to enhance student experiences by leveraging technology for improved engagement and connection. Activities and events will be developed to provide students with opportunities to meet new people, try new things, and see new places.

Another goal of the project is to provide documentation, manuals, and procedures for planning, developing, implementing, and executing interactive activities enhanced with technology.

Research and adopt technology:

- to assist students in navigating venues and attractions, as well as coordination of meet-up locations using geolocation.

- for facilitating engagement through interactive games and activities.

- for organizing student groups with existing events, and allowing students to create their own activities and invite others to join their groups

- to keep students connected, engaged, and interacting virtually when meeting up in person is not possible

The project will focus on adopting user-friendly interfaces that allow users to easily find and connect with events and activities. Additionally, technology will be identified and adopted that features a notification system to alert users about upcoming events and gatherings, ensuring they never miss an opportunity to engage with their peers. The goal is to seamlessly blend digital and physical experiences to foster a more connected and interactive community.

By integrating technology with real-world interactions, the project seeks to increase both online and in-person engagement among students.

- Create new and innovative activities and events

- Enhance student engagement through seamless integration of technology.

- Identify and adopt technology that utilizes geolocation.

- Facilitate navigation and coordination of meet-up locations.

- Increase awareness of events and activities through notifications.

- Foster community, communication, collaboration, connections, and interaction.

Deliverables

The project will identify and adopt interactive technology that includes geolocation features for navigation and meet-up coordination. The technology will have a user-friendly interface designed for ease of use by students and leaders. Additionally, a notification system will be implemented to keep users informed about upcoming events and activities. A comprehensive user guide and documentation will also be provided to ensure smooth implementation and usage.

The project will seek opportunities to collaborate with other stakeholders, departments, clubs, organizations, and community groups.

As part of the project several new events and activities will be created to showcase how the technology and its features can enhance engagement.

Interactive Adventures provides opportunities to explore and experience Kamloops and the surrounding area. We craft itineraries to highlight interesting things to see and do. We strive to create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere to engage participants, build bonds and connections through meaningful interactions. Most of our time is spent working with TRU on the LEAP program, but we also offer adventures outside of the university program. Adventures include local and international trips.

Interactive Adventures coordinates the Thompson Rivers University Leisure Exploration Activity Program (TRU LEAP). Which offers subsidized activities and events for students.

Interactive Adventures also offers unique trips for small groups to explore the world. These trips are open to anyone and are not affiliated with the university. Prices will be higher as they are not subsidized.

Meet new people, see new places, and try new things.

Leisure - We aim to provide convenient, quality, accessible leisure opportunities.

In this busy world it is important to take time to disconnect from the constant demands on your time. Among our many responsibilities and commitments, it is important to budget some time for yourself. Leisure time gives you a chance to relax, recharge, and re-energize.

Exploration - We want to bring joy as participants discover new places, try new things and meet new people.

Discover waterfalls, lakes, and rivers. See forests, deserts, grasslands, and mountains. Interact with people from all around the world. Try speaking other languages, taste different foods, and make new cultural connections.

Activities - We work with activity providers to offer diverse, interactive, engaging and accessible itineraries.

Fun activities are available to those with little or no experience. We aim to offer options for those with mobility limitations and other challenges. Activities include: sight seeing, indoor rock climbing, and snow-sports like skiing, snowboarding, and the more accessible option of snow-limo tours.

Positive Connections - We want to build a sense of community, and expand perspectives through new experiences and interactions.

Create bonds with friendly people who will surround you with good vibes, support and encouragement. Expand your social circle and develop your network. Feel a sense of belonging as part of a positive group.
